Asel Luzarraga was born in 1971 in Bilbao (Bizkaia, Basque Country).
He has a degree in Commerce and Basque Letters. After teaching for several years, he is now a professional translator. The publication in 2003 of Hamaika ispilu ganbil (Labayru) and obtaining the 6th Igartza scholarship pushed him to take writing seriously. Thereafter, he published the Basque-language novels Karonte, Mozorroaren xarma, Abaraska, Utopiaren itzalak, Gezurra odoletan, Inoren munduan, Bioklik, Bahiketa, Uzta garaia, Malthusen ezinegona, Katuak jandakoa, Esan gabe doa and Lurrean haziak. He has also published two collections of poetry: Denboran zatika and Bazter hautsiak. He has worked not only in the field of literature but also music, within the framework of the projects Punkamine, Trio Ternura, GorriBaltz and Analgy. After living in Chile and Argentina, he now resides in Bermeo (Bizkaia).
