Arrate Egaña was born in Donostia-San Sebastian in 1963. She works in Bilbao as a language technician at the ISEI, an agency of the Department of Education which evaluates and studies the education system of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country.
She has published some thirty books for children, adolescents and adults, in different genres (theatre, novels, short stories, etc.). She has won several literary prizes, such as Baporea (1999), Erroxape (2000), Emakumeak Kontari (2002), Lizardi (2011), Gabriel Aresti (2012), Donostia Hiria (2012) and Mikel Zarate (2015).
