The Third Carlist War in Spain (1872-1876). Two military supporters of Charles VII, pretender to the throne, buy the services of Vincent, a French playwright and theatre actor who soon finds himself performing a play based on the life of Joan of Arc, twisted to become an advocate of Charles´ cause. Anjel Lertxundi (Orio, 1948). He published his first book in 1970. Since then, he has published many novels and short stories. He has also published books for children and young people, has written many articles and essays and has directed two films. In 1983 and 1991, he was awarded the Spanish National Critics’ Prize. In 1999 and 2021, he received the Basque Literature Prize and in the 2010 the National Essay Prize. His literary career has been recognised by the Rosalía de Castro Prize.
