Beginning in 1941 and continuing until recently, the novel tells the story of a family in Pamplona-Iruña, across three generations, through the eyes of three women: Matilde, Teresa and Amaia, three matryoshka dolls who each search for and reject their mother.
Current fashions, events and lifestyles pass in front of a moving mirror; the tensions, struggles and changes of society are revealed in this vivid chronicle. However, beyond grand history, we will discover the stories of various people: those of the Echaluces, but also those of their relatives, servants, friends and enemies.
But above all, what you have in your hands is a deep, intense and moving story about mother-daughter relationships: a difficult, complex and painful bond, made up of conflicting feelings, like some strong drinks which will burn your throat upon ingestion and warm you inside for a long time.
