(The first book in the Lekukoa [Witness] series)

It´s a lazy Thursday and Larraitz, bored at high school, has gone to the mountains with Martin, the boy who made her heart skip a beat when she met him. She is hungry for freedom and believes in their love for each other.

But her life will be turned upside down, because there in the mountains, she will be a silent witness to a murder. The year is 1984 and the next day the newspapers will report the news as follows: “Three Terrorists Die in a Shootout”. These are smoke-filled days in the Basque Country.

What will really change her life, however, will be Martin’s behaviour, because instead of protecting her, he will turn his back on her. In this whirlwind of emotions, Larraitz finds only one confidant.
